MacArthur Foundation 100&Change Pre-Proposal Deadline
Overview
In 2017, the MacArthur Foundation challenged the world to dream large, announcing a global competition, 100&Change, to solve a critical problem affecting people, places, or the planet. In 2018, the Foundation awarded $100 million to Sesame Workshop and the International Rescue Committee to educate children displaced by conflict and persecution in the Middle East. Additionally, MacArthur decided to award additional $15 million grants to three competition finalists: Catholic Relief Services, HarvestPlus, and Rice 360° Institute for Global Health (Rice University) to further advance their work.
It is important to note that the MacArthur Foundation funding under 100&Change is not intended to provide primary support for basic or applied research; rather the Foundation places a high priority on approaches with a demonstrated success that will scale and could move a solution to a significant problem from ideation to implementation. It is also critical that the project authentically engages stakeholders in the communities the solution will benefit.
